Opportunity
Launched in 2003, the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity outlasted its planned 90-day mission by 14 years. It discovered evidence of ancient water and fundamentally transformed our understanding of the Red Planet.
Launch
Launched on July 7, 2003, Opportunity began its long journey to Mars, landing safely in January 2004.
Discovery
It sent back breathtaking panoramic photos and examined rocks that proved Mars was once wet and potentially habitable.
Legacy
After travelling further than any other off-world rover, its mission officially ended in 2019 following a massive dust storm.
